I’m Having Problems With My Canon I550 Printer. Need Help Quick–this Is A Project For Christmas!!?

I had been printing without problem, but only hours after I’d inserted the brand new cartridges, my photos started coming out streaked wtih blue and green, and then just too light in general. I can’t be out of ink already, can I? Do i shake up the cartridges, or do I need to allow the printer to cool down?
